The CCF Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for all organizational activities. The board consists of Vendor Directors and Operator Directors, and matters before the Board can be approved by a dual majority vote. The board also includes an Observer Director from the CDMA Development Group, and an Authorized Test Facility Observer which the CCF works with closely. The following are the current Board members, as well as additional key members of the CCF team.
THOMAS J. ERICKSON, President and CEO - QUALCOMM
Thomas J. Erickson is President and CEO of the CDMA Certification Forum and co-chair of the CTIA Certification Program CDMA Working Group, which defines technical certification requirements for CDMA devices for the U.S. market. Mr. Erickson is also Vice President of Product Development in the Engineering Services Group at QUALCOMM where his efforts focus primarily on transferring CDMA technology to help the industry bring innovative products to market. Mr. Erickson has more than 20 years experience developing and implementing test solutions for products ranging from CDMA handsets to cryogenic launch vehicles. He holds a Master of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
TRACY GRIFFIN, Vice-Chair of the Board and Chair of the Technical Working Group - SIERRA WIRELESS
Mr. Griffin is Manager Standards and Technology for Sierra Wireless. Mr. Griffin is responsible standards representation in forums such as 3GPP2, CDG, and CCF. Mr. Griffin has established leadership positions in multiple working groups within these organizations. Mr. Griffin is also involved in product interoperability, testing, and certification. Mr. Griffin has 12 years of industry experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Dallas.
LI JICHAO - ZTE CORPORATION
Mr. Li Jichao is the senior manager responsible for CDMA Handset management for ZTE Corp and has more than 15 years industry experience. As the leader of CDMA Terminal production team, Mr.Li Jichao is concern about the development of whole industry.With great efforts of Mr.Li, ZTE Corp got durative increase of good sailes volume in global market of CDMA terminals during last several years, especially in China Telecom , and got approval from Verison in US also.
HENRY HSIN -VIA TELECOM
Henry Hsin is the Integration and Test Director at VIA Telecom, Inc., and has more than 20 years of industry experience, including over 12 years in wireless handset development, integration, and end-to-end applications testing. Mr. Hsin has been responsible for system-level development and applications testing of CDMA handsets based upon VIA's baseband chipset. Prior to joining VIA Telecom, Mr. Hsin managed the system integration team within the marketing organization of CommQuest, which was later acquired by IBM. In this role, he provided customer support for their GSM and AMPS system solution. Earlier in his career, he was involved with RF testing of CDMA handsets at Nokia Mobile Phones. Mr. Hsin earned his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oregon State University and his Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
LOU LAMEDICA, Chairman of the Board - VERIZON WIRELESS
Lou LaMedica is the Director of the Wireless Handset and Device Evaluation and Implementation Laboratory for Verizon Wireless. Responsible for the technical integrity of all devices introduced to the market by Verizon Wireless, Mr. LaMedica leads a team of five Managers and more than 30 Engineers. He has 40 years’ experience, including military and civilian, in the telecommunications industry and is an inventor with four issued patents.
Mr. LaMedica has directed the Laboratory since the company’s inception in 2000. Under his leadership, the state-of-the-art national testing facility in Bedminster, New Jersey, sets standards and ensures the reliability of wireless phones, data equipment and applications by putting the products through the paces of rigorous laboratory and field testing.
Prior to his current position, Mr. LaMedica helped establish the first Handset Testing and Evaluation Laboratory for Nynex Mobile and later for Bell Atlantic Mobile, two of Verizon Wireless’ founding companies. Verizon Wireless is known for having the strictest handset testing process in the wireless industry.
SALVATORE TADDEO - TELUS
Salvatore Taddeo is a Manager within the TELUS Wireless Terminal Development and Certification Organization. Mr. Taddeo brings with him more than 10 years of telecommunication industry experience in project management, certification testing and software product development. Mr. Taddeo holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business and a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
KUPPU SRIDHAR - RELIANCE
Mr. Kuppu Sridhar has lead the Technology Evaluation, Validation and Network support group of the RTIC (the technology arm of Reliance Communications) for the past eight years, overseeing a staff of 150 engineers responsible for evaluating, validating and certifying all network elements, mobile devices and OSS/ BSS systems before they are deployed commercially in the Reliance Communications network. Mr. Sridhar previously headed Reliance’s rural telecommunications project to increase nationwide CDMA2000 coverage. Prior to joining Reliance, he spent 15 years at the Indian Telecommunications Service (ITS) and Technology Engineering Center (TEC), both part of the India Department of Telecommunications (DOT), during which time he was actively involved in the several initiatives related to the country’s telecommunications technology digital revolution.
JAMES PERSON - CDMA DEVELOPMENT S GROUP (CDG)
James Person, a 20-year plus veteran of the telecommunications industry, is the Chief Operating Officer of the CDMA Development Group (CDG), an international consortium of companies who have joined together to lead the adoption and evolution of 3G CDMA wireless systems around the world. In this role, Mr. Person has responsibility for CDG’s strategic and technical programs.
Prior to his role with CDG, Mr. Person was Vice President of International Sales at Copper Mountain Networks, a provider of IP-based broadband communications products.
Earlier in his career, he established QUALCOMM’s Southeast Asian office and helped to bring the first CDMA networks to Africa, throughout Asia and into Australia and New Zealand. Later, while based in Europe, he worked with 3G organizations on the continent and continued to promote CDMA technologies.
Mr. Person earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an International Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
DAWN SAAD - SGS WIRELESS
Dawn Saad is currently the director of SGS Wireless US (West Coast Operations). SGS is a CCF Authorized Testing Facility. Ms. Saad has over 15 years of telecommunication industry experience including development, integration and certification testing.
PAUL HAMPTON
Paul Hampton, Director, Product Management at QUALCOMM, serves as Chairman of the steering committee. In this role, he leads the group through the development and publishing of current and future test plans. He is past Chairman of the CCF Certification Working Group.
Prior to joining QUALCOMM’s product management team, Mr. Hampton led strategic product development at BVRP Software and directed quality management at GTRAN Wireless, QWEST Wireless and US WEST NewVector Group, developing industry benchmarked processes used throughout the product lifecycle of cellular terminals.
CLIVE WAN
Clive Wan, CDMA Application Manager for Aeroflex Asia Limited, is Chairman of the CCF Certification Working Group and is involved in both the lab authorization process and monitoring of the certification process, In his current role with Aeroflex, Mr. Wan builds and maintains relationships with key CDMA customers throughout the Asia-Pacific region; keeps his team up to date with the latest CDMA technology and market developments; and trains sales staff on how to maximize CDMA business opportunities.
BRUCE JOLLY
Bruce Jolly, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of CCF since June 2008, has 19 years experience from different sectors of the telecoms industry, having worked and lived in Scandinavia, North America and the United Kingdom. Previous to his current role (which also includes liaison activities with other industry bodies, and work towards LTE standards) he worked as Business Director for Mobile Technologies at Aeroflex, a major multi-standard test equipment manufacturer, working on both 3GPP and 3GPP2 technologies. He worked for several years in the United States, as Senior Product Manager for several infrastructure projects, with Lucent Technologies and earlier, for Motorola. Prior to this, he was a Project Manager on major fibre-optic cable-laying projects in Scandinavia and Northern Europe. Bruce graduated B.Eng (Honours) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Robert Gordon's University in Aberdeen, Scotland.
MITCH KETTRICK
Mitch Kettrick has more than 17 years of product development, testing, certification, sales, and marketing experience in the wireless telecommunications industry. Most recently, he was the VP of Engineering at Sky Detective, a startup company that built custom tracking applications for the law enforcement industry. Prior to that, Kettrick was the Director of Product Certification and interoperability Testing at NextWave, a mid-sized startup company in the WiMAX industry. Kettrick was a founding member of the CDMA Certification Forum (CCF) where he spent two years as a member of the Board of Directors. He was also the chairman of the CCF Certification Working Group. Kettrick spent more than 7 years at Nokia Mobile Phones working on several product development programs. Prior to working at Sky Detective, NextWave, Nokia and the CCF, Kettrick held various positions at Anritsu and the Boeing Company. Kettrick graduated magna cum laude from Gonzaga University in 1991 with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1991 and he graduated as the valedictorian of his MBA program at Southern Methodist University in 1999.
DENNIS FU
works for CCF as Asia Pacific representative, focusing on business development in APAC region in working with mobile operators, device vendors, testing labs and government agencies in the region.
Prior to working for CCF in 2007, Dennis was the director of wireless sales for Spirent Communications, in charge of wireless business development and sales management in China, Taiwan and Japan. Before joining Spirent in 2002, Dennis worked in Qualcomm at San Diego for over 8 years holding various engineering and management positions in ASICs, field engineering, test engineering, and APAC business development. Dennis also worked as engineer and project lead for Analog Devices in Norwood and Marine Research Institute in Shanghai in his professional career.
Dennis Fu graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1982 with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, and received his master¹s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1990 from University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a MBA degree from University of San Diego in 2000.
